Decanter — 100/100: “Medium-full colour. Closed-in but rich, concentrated nose. Good grip here. Medium-full body. Ripe, balanced, fresh and very profound and elegant. Exceptionally fine, complex fruit. Good as his Clos de Bèze is, this is, as always, just that bit superior. A great wine.”

Allen Meadows, Burghound — 98/100: “Since the last time I tried this in 2016, it clearly evidences some evolution though it’s clear that this is very much still on the way up.” He notes a “superbly concentrated and overtly powerful big-bodied” palate, “simply stunning length,” and concludes: “A monument in the making.” He suggested another 6–10 years would be beneficial.

 Neal Martin, Vinous — 99/100 (June 2025): “The 2005 Chambertin Grand Cru from Domaine Armand Rousseau flirts with perfection.” He describes “stunning delineation on the nose,” with “shimmering red berry fruit intermixed with rose petal and a hint of Morello cherry.” The palate has “a lattice of lace-like tannins, vibrating with energy and tension,” with “incredible fruit concentration.” He concludes: “a heavenly Chambertin that could almost bring a grown man to tears.”
