The Label Art

The Artist: The artwork for the 1991 vintage was created by Setsuko (Setsuko Klossowska de Rola), a celebrated Japanese painter and the wife of Balthus (who painted the infamous 1993 label).

The Concept: Her painting retells the life cycle of a grape bunch. It depicts the journey from blossom to ripe autumn fruit, ending with the ultimate enjoyment of wine served from a decanter. Her signature style features clear lines and a complete absence of perspective, creating a serene, flat layout reminiscent of traditional Japanese art
