Ehlers Estate - A Winery with a Heart
Once home to the historic vineyard of Bernard Ehlers, established in 1886., Jean and his wife Sylviane revived the original Ehlers Estate name with the winery's inaugural 2000 vintage Cabernet Sauvignon.
Winemaker Kevin Morrisey enjoys a reputation for making complex, structured, and balanced wines that express the quality and character of the terroir. "It's all about the land," says Morrisey. "Ehlers Estate is situated on a bench of classic, proven, Cabernet Sauvignon soils that are exceptionally well drained. We add to that our meticulous organic and biodynamic farming, a great crew, and the result is world-class wines." With dual French/American citizenship, he has fond memories of his internship in Pomerol at Chateau Petrus. He also made wine for Etude Wines and Stags' Leap Winery before settling in at Ehlers Estate.
