I really loved the superb minerality core here, that was the highlight. But there was still enough fresh fruit to create a beautiful balance. When revealed, I was surprised to see the 1994 vintage (and we were even discussing if this was Bordeaux at all). It might not be the most complex wine but a true success given the rather weak vintage. And in this half bottle it aged certainly a bit faster and adding one or the other additionally aroma layer which made it a great experience. Intense chalky minerality and dark fruits on the nose. On the palate a beautiful fresh and pure dark fruit core but a more dominating slate and chalk minerality core, some tobacco and malty notes, and hints of intriguing floral aromas. The wine is very well-rounded and harmonious, quite long and without much hard edges.
